Economic Development Stakeholder Interview Report
January, 2012

Beginning in October 2011, the City Manager’s Office conducted interviews with approximately 50 stakeholders in the business and economic development community. Interviewees were asked what they believed should be the role and priorities of an economic development manager for the City. In addition to meeting with individuals, staff attended meetings of the Small Business Commission, the Real Estate Advisory Council (REAC), Tucson Underground Utilities Association (TUCA), and their subcommittees to garner input. Staff met with Chandler’s Economic Development Office (and toured their business incubator), as well as the City of Phoenix’s Development Services Department. Finally, staff conducted additional research on how other jurisdictions handle economic development through the internet and by phone.
