The City of Tucson Residential Parking Program was started in 1983 and has since grown to include programs in more than 14 neighborhoods. The program helps to manage parking in residential areas where non-resident parking is impacting the ability of residents to park. Programs protect and improve the quality of life and character in the neighborhood by reducing the amount of overflow parking, discouraging cut-throat traffic, ensuring adequate parking spaces for citizens who live in the neighborhood, and developing revenues that can be used for reinvestment in the area. The ParkWise Residential Parking Program Office exists for the benefit of neighborhoods that are adversely affected by overflow parking. Please remember that the success of the program depends on the cooperation of all residents. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the ParkWise Residential Parking Permit Program Office at (520) 791-5071.
Residential Parking Permit Program: $2.50 Annually: Permits are available for properties not exceeding four (4) units. The number of permits issued is based on a property's street frontage. Parking is allowed only on the block face of the address for which the permit is issued. Permits are $2.50 annual/per permit. In most cases, a resident can receive one visitor pass with their residential parking permit. A visitors pass is a plastic card, which allows it to be moved from guest vehicle to guest vehicle as needed. When parking with a visitor pass, visitors may only park within the same block of the residence for which it is issued. Visitor passes do not expire and are issued free of charge unless lost or stolen. A replacement fee of $2.50 then applies. Special Event Permit Program: To ensure residential parking is available during athletic and special events some areas have an additional program that restricts non-permit holders parking during evenings and weekends. These permits are attached to residential permits and cost an additional $2.50 for each permit and visitors pass. Apartment Parking Permit Program: Five or more residential units can qualify as an Apartment Program. Permit holders are limited to parking on the apartment's property frontage only and a permit does not guarantee a parking space. Permits are $25.00 annually. Parking Meter Exemption Permit Program: $2.50 Annually: Certain areas qualify for the Meter Exemption Program, which allows you to purchase a permit to park at specific meters adjacent to your residence without the need of putting money in the meter. These meters are clearly marked for the program and only specific addresses qualify. The cost is $2.50 annually/per permit. No visitor passes are issued with the meter program.
You may apply in person at 110 E. Pennington Street, Suite 150, Monday thru Friday, 7:45am to 5:15pm, or request that an application be mailed to you at the address the permit will be issued to. Two proofs of residence, showing your name and the address the permit will be issued to, are required. Drivers license, utility bill, banking statement or an original lease/rental agreement are some examples for proof of residency. Complete vehicle information, including license plate number, must be provided to receive a permit. If mailing in the application please include a copy of the proof of residency and a check or money order payable to the City of Tucson. For additional information, please call the ParkWise office at (520) 791-5071. To access other City and State parking laws, please visit the Pima County Public Library.
